The Honoring Nations Google Earth Voyager is a showcase of interactive guided tours, case studies, and layers that aim to help educate users about Native nations across the United States. The challenge was to build an interactive teaching tool to help learners visualize place-based stories in 3D and allow rich geospatial context to teach about contemporary Native governments.
To enhance the storytelling and visualizations, we visited six different tribal nations to collect community stories, 360˚ videos, customized icons, on-the-ground viewpoints in Street View mode, and 3D footage. Through outreach, community, and collaboration we strove to enable immersive experiences that bring the world to Indian Country, hopefully inspiring innovation and the next generation of learners.
This project was the first Native American Voyager story to be featured on Google Earth.
